Tucumán, Argentina: schoolgirls allege a classmate made about 280 AI nude images of them that spread on WhatsApp and were sold; sit-in protests 8 and 9 Oct 2026

Girls at a secondary school in the locality of San Pablo, Tucumán province, Argentina, reported in October 2026 that a male classmate had used artificial-intelligence tools to generate about 280 sexual images of them, placing their faces on naked bodies, and that the images circulated in WhatsApp groups and, they later learned, were sold. The families raised the matter with the school, which acknowledged in a communiqué to families that it had received parents concerned about photographs and videos altered with AI showing adolescents' faces on naked female bodies, and announced a listening and formative day for 13 October 2026. Student delegates told Cadena 3 that pupils from first to fifth year, aged 12 to 18, were affected, that a pupil described as a friend of the accused alerted the girls, and that the school's response was insufficient; the students held sit-ins outside the school on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 October 2026 demanding an investigation, the examination of the accused pupil's phone and his expulsion. The allegations rest on the students' and families' accounts and the school's communiqué as relayed by the press; no police or prosecutorial action is reported, the tool is not named, and the accused pupil is a minor.

AI system as recorded: Artificial-intelligence tools, not named, which according to the students' complaint were used by a classmate to generate about 280 images placing the girls' faces on naked bodies; the school's communiqué, as relayed, refers to photographs and videos altered with AI

What Happened

The images. Girls at a secondary school in San Pablo, department of Lules, Tucumán province, reported that a male classmate had used artificial-intelligence tools to generate about 280 sexual images of them by manipulating their faces onto naked bodies without their consent. Families told the school that videos with the faces of under-age pupils mounted on naked bodies had also circulated. The students said the images spread in WhatsApp groups and that they later learned the images had been sold.

How it came out. A student delegate told Cadena 3 that a pupil described as a friend of the accused alerted the girls that the images were circulating and told them who had produced and shared them. The delegate said the accused initially shared the images with his group of friends and gathered "more than 270 photos in total". The students then went to the school authorities and said they did not receive the response they expected.

The school's response. In a communiqué to families, relayed by Contexto Tucumán and El Tucumano, the school said it had received mothers and fathers concerned about the circulation of photographs and videos altered with AI, had also heard third-year pupils and delegates from other years, would address each aspect "with the maximum responsibility", and would hold a listening and formative day on Tuesday 13 October 2026. A fifth-year delegate told Cadena 3 that the school "gives no answers to any situation of harassment", called the events "sexual violence", and said the school prioritised the accused pupil's privacy over the affected girls.

The protests. The students held a sit-in outside the school on Thursday 8 October 2026 and again on Friday 9 October, not entering classes, demanding that the production and circulation of the material be investigated, that the accused pupil's phone be examined, and that he be expelled. A banner read: "Does a phone seem private to you, but my classmates' bodies and privacy do not?"

What is not established. No source reports a police complaint, a prosecutor's involvement or any sanction. The tool is not named. The number of images (about 280, or "more than 270") and the sale of the images rest on the students' accounts. A further allegation by a delegate about a separate recording of a relative is not part of this record. The accused pupil is a minor and is not named in any source.

Reported harm

According to the students and their families, about 280 AI-made sexual images placing schoolgirls' faces on naked bodies circulated in WhatsApp groups and were sold; student delegates described the events as sexual violence, said the girls felt unprotected by the school, and held two days of sit-in protests.

How Harm Occurred

A classmate allegedly used AI tools to place the faces of schoolgirls aged 12 to 18 onto naked bodies in about 280 images, which circulated in WhatsApp groups and were reportedly sold; the girls describe the depiction and its circulation as sexual violence and say the school's response left them unprotected.

Outcome

Ongoing

The school met parents and student delegates, issued a communiqué to families saying it would address the matter with responsibility and within the law, and announced a listening and formative day for Tuesday 13 October 2026. Students considered the response insufficient and held sit-ins on 8 and 9 October 2026 without entering classes, demanding an investigation, the examination of the accused pupil's phone and his expulsion. No police complaint, prosecutorial investigation or sanction is reported in the inspected sources.

What remains unknown

  • How the images were made and with which tool; no authority or technical examination has confirmed the students' account, and the accused pupil's phone has not been examined according to them.
  • How many girls were depicted; the sources give a number of images (about 280, or more than 270) and an age range, not a count of people.
  • When the images were made and first circulated; the sources date only the disclosure and the protests in October 2026.
  • Whether any police complaint or prosecutorial investigation has been opened, and whether the images were in fact sold; the sale rests on the students' account.
  • The school's communiqué was not inspected directly; its wording is known only through Contexto Tucumán and El Tucumano.

What the evidence supports

AI involvement: reported. The students and their families report that a classmate used artificial-intelligence tools to generate about 280 images placing the girls' faces on naked bodies, and the school's communiqué to families, as relayed by Contexto Tucumán and El Tucumano, acknowledges parents' concern about photographs and videos altered with AI showing adolescents' faces on naked female bodies. The AI-made images are the harm itself: they depict the girls (depicted_or_impersonated), their circulation in WhatsApp groups and reported sale is the conduct complained of, and the students describe it as sexual violence. No police, prosecutor or technical examination has confirmed how the images were made, the tool is not named, and the accused pupil's phone has not been examined according to the students, so the status is reported and not supported.

People described

Girls at a secondary school in San Pablo, Tucumán province, described by student delegates as pupils from first to fifth year aged 12 to 18, whose faces were, according to the students' complaint, placed by AI on naked bodies in about 280 images that circulated in WhatsApp groups; not named

People reported harmed in this case

Not reliably quantifiable from the sources

No source gives a count of depicted girls. Cadena 3 reports that pupils from first to fifth year aged 12 to 18 were affected and that third-year pupils were the most affected; 280 is a number of images, not of people. Both numeric fields are zero placeholders. The accused pupil used the tool against others, so participant_users_affected_min is 0.

Lomas de Zamora, Argentina: families say pupils used AI to turn classmates’ photos into fake nudes that circulated and were sold; two 15-year-olds charged

On 7 October 2026 pupils and families protested outside a private secondary school in Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires province, after families reported that a group of pupils had used artificial intelligence to alter real photographs of female classmates so that they appeared naked, and had circulated the images through social networks and messaging apps. Families told reporters that the images were compiled in a "catalogue" pairing each girl’s original social-media photo with the manipulated version, that some were offered for money on adult sites, and that the girls were traumatised and ashamed. Urgente24 reported that two 15-year-old pupils were charged (imputados) in the juvenile prosecutor’s case, that investigators had identified 45 possible victims while families spoke of about 50, and that, according to information circulating, the school had decided the pupils involved would continue classes online and would not be re-enrolled for 2027; El Destape, by contrast, reported that the school did not plan to sanction or expel them and would hold awareness talks, and El Destape and Código Baires describe the move to online classes as a measure under evaluation. Families also allege the school knew for about a month before telling parents. The allegations have not been tested in court and the AI tool is not identified.

Solo and Semarang, Indonesia: a university student's face was composited with AI onto pornographic images and a video by her ex-boyfriend and posted online; the suspect was detained after a nearly seven-month investigation

A female student at a state university in Solo (Surakarta), Central Java, learned on 1 January 2026 from friends that her face had been composited onto pornographic images and a video, which her lawyer said were found on Instagram and Telegram. Her family reported the case to the Central Java regional police cyber directorate on 28 January 2026. Police issued a formal police report on 31 July, arrested her ex-boyfriend, a university student in Semarang, at his boarding house in Gunungpati on 4 August 2026, and detained him. The police spokesman said the suspect used AI to place the complainant's face on another woman's naked body so that she appeared in pornographic content, uploaded it to his X account, did not sell it, and acted out of resentment after an on-and-off relationship ended. He faces charges under Articles 51 and 35 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law and an article printed by two outlets as 'Law No. 1 of 2026', with a maximum of 12 years' imprisonment. Her lawyer said she could not sleep, withdrew, felt shame and at one point lost hope, that his team had found seven women in total allegedly targeted of whom six had not reported, and that the suspect's parents asked for an out-of-court settlement; police said only one complainant was confirmed.

Cileungsi, Bogor Regency, Indonesia: photographs of private-school pupils taken from social media were turned into AI pornographic images and videos, reportedly since 2025; three pupils have filed a joint police report, the victims' lawyer says hundreds were affected, and two former pupils are named as suspects

Bogor Regency police confirmed on 18 September 2026 that they are investigating a report that pupils of a private school in Cileungsi had their faces edited with artificial intelligence into pornographic content. The head of the women-and-children unit told Kumparan that so far three pupils had reported in a single police report, that the case began when a victim heard from a friend that someone was making content with their face using AI technology, and that investigators were still establishing who made the content and which program was used, under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law. A lawyer for the witnesses, quoted by Pojok Bogor and Uzone, says the victims number in the hundreds; that two former pupils, one as initiator and one as maker, have been reported and admitted the acts to witnesses; that police found thousands of suspected AI-manipulated photos and videos on a suspect's phone, some uploaded to websites including an online-gambling site; and that the case, reported on 19 May 2026, is believed to have run since 2025 while all involved were still pupils, some victims now being university students. Police say the case is at an early stage and asked the public not to draw conclusions.
