Lomas de Zamora, Argentina: families say pupils used AI to turn classmates’ photos into fake nudes that circulated and were sold; two 15-year-olds charged

On 7 October 2026 pupils and families protested outside a private secondary school in Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires province, after families reported that a group of pupils had used artificial intelligence to alter real photographs of female classmates so that they appeared naked, and had circulated the images through social networks and messaging apps. Families told reporters that the images were compiled in a "catalogue" pairing each girl’s original social-media photo with the manipulated version, that some were offered for money on adult sites, and that the girls were traumatised and ashamed. Urgente24 reported that two 15-year-old pupils were charged (imputados) in the juvenile prosecutor’s case, that investigators had identified 45 possible victims while families spoke of about 50, and that, according to information circulating, the school had decided the pupils involved would continue classes online and would not be re-enrolled for 2027; El Destape, by contrast, reported that the school did not plan to sanction or expel them and would hold awareness talks, and El Destape and Código Baires describe the move to online classes as a measure under evaluation. Families also allege the school knew for about a month before telling parents. The allegations have not been tested in court and the AI tool is not identified.

AI system as recorded: Artificial intelligence tools, not identified, used according to the families’ complaint as reported by Urgente24, El Destape and Código Baires to alter real photographs of female pupils so that they appeared naked, and in some cases, according to the quoted mother, videos

What Happened

The complaint. According to the families’ complaint as reported by Urgente24, El Destape and Código Baires (all 7 October 2026), a group of pupils at a private secondary school in Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires province, used artificial intelligence tools to alter real photographs of female classmates, taken from the girls’ own social-media accounts, so that the girls appeared naked; the quoted mother said the tools generated images and, in some cases, videos. The images circulated among pupils through social networks and messaging apps; families say some reached adult-content sites and platforms where they were allegedly offered for money. A mother of one affected pupil described a "catalogue" that listed each girl’s name beside her original photo and the manipulated version, and said the images were so well made that they looked real.

The harm reported. The same mother said the girls were traumatised and ashamed, and that many delayed telling their parents out of shame; according to her account the girls learned of the images on a Thursday and her daughter spoke of it the following day. A 16-year-old pupil at the protest said she had seen one of the accused pupils inside the school and expressed her anger. Código Baires reports families asking for support for the victims, many of whom learned of the images with shame and distress.

The investigation. El Destape and Código Baires report a criminal case before the juvenile prosecutor’s office no. 6 (UFI N° 6) of the juvenile criminal responsibility jurisdiction of Lomas de Zamora, investigating the creation and distribution of sexual images of minors. Urgente24 reports that two 15-year-old pupils were charged, presented themselves to the prosecutor’s office, and that their phones will be analysed to establish how the images were generated, who circulated them and whether an organised sale existed; investigators had identified 45 possible victims while families spoke of about 50, and families initially pointed to four pupils.

The school’s response. Families allege the school knew of the situation for about a month before informing parents and asked pupils not to talk about it; the outlets note these accusations await the school’s reply. After a meeting of more than an hour with parents, the provincial schools inspectorate took formal intervention. Urgente24 reports, citing information circulated so far, that the school decided the pupils involved would continue classes online and would not be re-enrolled for the 2027 school year; El Destape reported that the school did not plan to sanction or expel them and would instead hold awareness talks over several days, and El Destape and Código Baires describe the switch to online classes as a measure under evaluation.

What is not established. The AI tool is not identified, no image was examined by the outlets, the number of victims is an investigative estimate, and the allegations of sale and of the school’s prior knowledge are the families’ accounts, untested in court.

Reported harm

According to the families’ complaint as reported by three Argentine outlets, female pupils’ photographs were altered with AI to appear naked, compiled in a "catalogue" with their names, circulated among pupils and allegedly sold online; a mother said the girls were traumatised and ashamed. Investigators identified 45 possible victims (families say about 50); the figures are estimates.

How Harm Occurred

Real photographs of female pupils were, according to the families’ complaint, altered with AI tools to simulate nudity and circulated among pupils and, allegedly, on adult sites for money; the girls who were depicted are reported to have been traumatised and ashamed.

Outcome

Ongoing

Urgente24 reports that two 15-year-old pupils were charged in a juvenile-justice case and presented themselves to the prosecutor’s office, that their phones will be analysed, and that, according to circulated information, the school decided the pupils involved would continue classes online and would not be re-enrolled for 2027, while El Destape reported that the school did not plan to sanction or expel them. El Destape and Código Baires report a criminal case at the juvenile prosecutor’s office no. 6 of Lomas de Zamora and formal intervention by the provincial schools inspectorate. No court ruling is reported.

What remains unknown

  • Which AI tool was used, how many images exist and how many girls were actually depicted; the 45 and 50 figures are estimates of possible victims.
  • When the images were first made and circulated: families say the school knew for about a month, and the girls learned of the images on a Thursday before the 7 October protest; the start date is unknown.
  • Whether any image was actually sold, and whether more than the two charged pupils were involved; the prosecutor will analyse the seized phones.
  • The school’s own account of what it knew and when; the outlets record the families’ accusations as awaiting the school’s reply.
  • What sanction, if any, the school will apply to the accused pupils: Urgente24 relays that their enrolment would not be renewed for 2027, while El Destape reports that the school did not plan to sanction or expel them.

What the evidence supports

AI involvement: reported. Three Argentine outlets report the families’ complaint that pupils used artificial intelligence tools to alter real photographs of female classmates so that they appeared naked, and that these AI-made images were circulated in a "catalogue" with the girls’ names and allegedly offered for money. The generated images depict the girls (depicted_or_impersonated) and are the instrument of the reported harm, which a mother describes as the girls being traumatised and ashamed. The tool is not identified, no outlet examined an image, and the account is the families’ complaint under investigation by a juvenile prosecutor; two pupils were charged according to Urgente24.

Solo and Semarang, Indonesia: a university student's face was composited with AI onto pornographic images and a video by her ex-boyfriend and posted online; the suspect was detained after a nearly seven-month investigation

A female student at a state university in Solo (Surakarta), Central Java, learned on 1 January 2026 from friends that her face had been composited onto pornographic images and a video, which her lawyer said were found on Instagram and Telegram. Her family reported the case to the Central Java regional police cyber directorate on 28 January 2026. Police issued a formal police report on 31 July, arrested her ex-boyfriend, a university student in Semarang, at his boarding house in Gunungpati on 4 August 2026, and detained him. The police spokesman said the suspect used AI to place the complainant's face on another woman's naked body so that she appeared in pornographic content, uploaded it to his X account, did not sell it, and acted out of resentment after an on-and-off relationship ended. He faces charges under Articles 51 and 35 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law and an article printed by two outlets as 'Law No. 1 of 2026', with a maximum of 12 years' imprisonment. Her lawyer said she could not sleep, withdrew, felt shame and at one point lost hope, that his team had found seven women in total allegedly targeted of whom six had not reported, and that the suspect's parents asked for an out-of-court settlement; police said only one complainant was confirmed.

Cileungsi, Bogor Regency, Indonesia: photographs of private-school pupils taken from social media were turned into AI pornographic images and videos, reportedly since 2025; three pupils have filed a joint police report, the victims' lawyer says hundreds were affected, and two former pupils are named as suspects

Bogor Regency police confirmed on 18 September 2026 that they are investigating a report that pupils of a private school in Cileungsi had their faces edited with artificial intelligence into pornographic content. The head of the women-and-children unit told Kumparan that so far three pupils had reported in a single police report, that the case began when a victim heard from a friend that someone was making content with their face using AI technology, and that investigators were still establishing who made the content and which program was used, under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law. A lawyer for the witnesses, quoted by Pojok Bogor and Uzone, says the victims number in the hundreds; that two former pupils, one as initiator and one as maker, have been reported and admitted the acts to witnesses; that police found thousands of suspected AI-manipulated photos and videos on a suspect's phone, some uploaded to websites including an online-gambling site; and that the case, reported on 19 May 2026, is believed to have run since 2025 while all involved were still pupils, some victims now being university students. Police say the case is at an early stage and asked the public not to draw conclusions.

Ribera Alta, Valencia: a 17-year-old was investigated for making AI-generated nude images and videos of 16 schoolmates, impersonating a girl on fake accounts and advertising the images for sale

In December 2024 a female student in the Ribera Alta area of Valencia province reported to the Guardia Civil that a social-media account had been created in her name featuring an AI-generated video, and later a second account in her name, other accounts showing AI-generated nude videos, and a webpage advertising the images for commercial purposes; the Guardia Civil said the photos, all of minors, had been manipulated so that the people in them appeared completely naked. After 15 other minors came forward with similar complaints, officers traced IP addresses and account emails to the home of a 17-year-old schoolmate, who is being investigated on suspicion of corrupting minors under a Valencia youth court. The Guardia Civil announced the investigation on 27 July 2025.
