Woman says a classmate sent an AI-undressed image of her to his contacts; he says his account was hacked, and police refused a case pending an examination
A 23-year-old woman told the news site Kaktus.media that in July 2026 she learned that acquaintances had received a nude image of her made with AI from her photograph, and that the sender was a classmate. She says he first told her an app had generated and sent the image by itself, then admitted that he had undressed her Instagram photo through AI himself. In a written statement to the outlet the accused says he used a Telegram bot offering AI photo processing in May or June 2022 and was shocked by the result, and that the images were sent from his Telegram account on the night of 11 to 12 July 2026 by people who had hacked it. The woman says she suffered severe psychological stress and harm to her reputation. She filed a complaint with a district police department on 21 July; after she complained to the prosecutor's office the matter moved to another district department. That department told Kaktus.media that, because the review period expired before expert results arrived, it had refused to open a criminal case and had ordered a new examination. Her lawyer says four motions filed on 5 August have gone unanswered.

AI system as recorded: A Telegram bot offering AI photo processing, according to the accused's written statement; the woman says he admitted undressing her photo through AI. No product is named.
What Happened
The image. According to the woman's account in Kaktus.media, in July 2026 she learned that acquaintances had received a nude image with her face made with AI. She says that on 19 July the sender, a classmate, messaged her that an image with her face had been sent to his social-media contacts by accident about a week earlier, and claimed that an app had accessed his phone gallery, written a prompt, generated the image and sent it by itself. She says he later admitted in conversation that he had undressed her Instagram photo through AI himself, and that his girlfriend gave her a chat in which he said the same.
The accused's account. In a written statement to Kaktus.media the accused says that in May or June 2022, just after leaving school, he used a Telegram bot that offered AI photo processing, followed its example and was shocked by the result. He says the bot gave attackers access to his account, that the images were sent to several of his contacts from his account on the night of 11 to 12 July 2026 while he was asleep abroad, and that recipients included his father and his girlfriend. He says he apologised to her repeatedly and reported the hacking to the police. According to the woman, GUUR cybersecurity specialists had doubted his account of making the image in 2022, because bots did not yet have that function.
The harm. The woman says she suffered severe psychological stress, still feels strong anxiety months later, and that the image harmed her reputation and her honour and dignity.
The police check. She filed a complaint with a district internal-affairs department on 21 July with audio recordings and screenshots of his admission. She says investigators arranged a meeting with the accused and urged her to forgive him, which she regards as pressure. After she complained to the prosecutor's office the matter moved to another district department, where she underwent a forensic psychological examination on 18 August. Her lawyer says four motions filed on 5 August, including one for a technical examination of the phone and program, have gone unanswered. That department told Kaktus.media that it refused to open a criminal case because the review period expired before the examination results arrived, and that a new examination had been ordered. She says she fears the accused's family connections could affect the case.
Reported harm
According to her account in Kaktus.media, a woman was depicted in a nude AI-generated image that was sent to acquaintances, and she reports severe psychological stress and reputational harm.
How Harm Occurred
According to the woman and to the accused's own statement, an AI photo-processing tool was used on her photograph to produce a nude image with her face; the image was then sent to acquaintances, which she says caused her severe stress and reputational harm. Who sent it is disputed.
Outcome
PendingThe district police department told Kaktus.media that it refused to open a criminal case because the review period expired before expert results arrived, and that it had ordered a new examination. The accused says that on 9 September 2026 the prosecutor's office partly upheld his complaint against the refusal to examine his hacking report, on the need to correct deficiencies in the check.
What remains unknown
- Who made the image, when, and with which tool; no technical examination result is reported.
- Who sent the image and whether the accused's Telegram account was hacked.
- How many people received the image.
- The outcome of the new examination and whether a criminal case will be opened.

Braintree, Essex: a bar worker was jailed for five years for making AI deepfake pornography of 20 women he knew, including a 16-year-old's prom photo, and posting it with their names and phone numbers on a forum glorifying rape
Between March 2023 and May 2024 Brandon Tyler, 26, a bar worker from Braintree, Essex, took images from the social-media pages of 20 women he knew, used AI to remove clothing or otherwise make them sexually explicit, and posted 173 times on an online forum that, in the prosecutor's words, championed 'rape culture and sexual violence to women', adding the women's names, social-media handles and phone numbers and, under one picture, asking 'which one deserves to be gang raped?'. One edit was made from a 16-year-old girl's prom-night photograph. He was caught after including his own Instagram handle in a screenshot. On 4 April 2025 at Chelmsford Crown Court, having admitted 18 counts of causing harassment without violence and 15 counts of sharing an intimate photo or film for sexual gratification, he was sentenced to five years' imprisonment; Judge Alexander Mills called his conduct 'the worst kind of toxic masculinity'. Two victims told the court of the impact: one said she still received anonymous sexual calls and that her long-term relationship had ended; another said she felt 'completely violated'.

Kulai, Johor: a 16-year-old pupil was arrested and charged after AI-edited nude images of schoolmates and alumni, including minors, were sold online at RM2 each; police logged 29 victim reports and the principal resigned
In April 2025 Johor police arrested a 16-year-old pupil of a private Chinese independent secondary school in Kulai district after an 18-year-old woman reported on 3 April that nude images edited with her face were circulating on social media and being offered for sale. Police said the boy used an AI application to edit photos taken from victims' social media accounts and sold the images at RM2 each; a phone was seized and a 19-year-old was later remanded alongside him. Eight victim reports at the time of the arrest on 8 April grew to 22 by 12 April and 29 by 15 April. The Deputy Communications Minister, who is also the Kulai MP, said on 9 April that most victims were alumni but some were current pupils as young as 14, and on 12 April that 38 people had been identified, the youngest 12 or 13, and her office helped victims lodge reports. A female pupil's viral post said a Telegram chat room of more than 200 members shared the composites and that the school had initially treated the matter as a minor infraction; the school board expelled the boy, acknowledged its slow handling, offered counselling and legal aid, and the principal resigned on 12 April. On 23 April 2025 the boy pleaded guilty at the Kulai Magistrate's Court to possessing 14 pornographic images and not guilty to a charge under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 of producing sexual abuse material by editing a 17-year-old classmate's image; no verdict on that charge has been found.
