Fact-checkers say AI-manipulated videos of a former LDK MP and party youth members circulated before Kosovo's June 2026 election; he says they are manipulated
Kallxo's fact-checking unit Krypometer reported on 15 May 2026, ahead of Kosovo's 7 June early election, that a Facebook profile had published two videos involving Paris Guri, a former member of parliament for the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). The first showed members of the LDK Youth Forum, with Guri among them, holding bottles of milk. Krypometer says the HIVE detector gave a 97 per cent probability that it was edited with AI, and a Google Lens search found the original photo, published by Guri, in which the group raise two fingers, the LDK's symbol, instead. The second video purported to show Guri praising Albin Kurti and was shared with a Serbian-language caption calling him a beauty; Krypometer says HIVE results show the video and its speech were manipulated with AI. Guri told Krypometer the videos are manipulated. Who made them, which tool was used and how widely they spread are not reported.

AI system as recorded: Unnamed AI tool used to alter a party photo into a video and to fabricate a speaking video of a former Kosovo MP, assessed by Krypometer with HIVE as AI-manipulated
What Happened
The posts. Krypometer reports that a Facebook profile published a video of several young members of the LDK Youth Forum holding bottles of milk, with former LDK MP Paris Guri among them, with the line "we know nothing, we only drink milk" presented as spoken in it. The same profile published a second video in which Guri purportedly says a line praising Albin Kurti; it was shared with a Serbian-language caption calling him a beauty.
The AI assessment. Krypometer says the first video showed elements of AI generation and that HIVE gave a 97 per cent probability that it was edited with AI. Using Google Lens it found the original photo, published by Guri, in which he and the others raise two fingers, the LDK's symbol, and hold no milk bottles. For the second video, Krypometer says HIVE results show that the video and the speech in it were manipulated with AI. A detector score is a probability, not proof of the tool used.
The depicted politician's response. Krypometer contacted Guri, who said the videos are manipulated.
Context and limits. The article places the posts in the period before the 7 June 2026 early election but does not give the dates on which they were posted. The videos and the profile were not inspected. The article does not say who made the videos, which tool was used or how widely they were shared, and reports no response from the youth members shown. Quotations are translations by the research agent (an AI).
Reported harm
A former Kosovo MP was shown in two videos that fact-checkers assessed with a detector and a reverse image search as AI-manipulated, posted by a Facebook profile before an election; he told the fact-checkers the videos are manipulated (reported).
Outcome
UnknownKrypometer published its fact check on 15 May 2026 with its HIVE results, the original photo and Guri's statement. No takedown, complaint or other action is reported in the article.
What remains unknown
- The dates on which the two videos were posted.
- Who runs the profile and made the videos, and which AI tool was used.
- How widely the videos were shared and whether they were removed.
- Whether the youth members shown responded.
What the evidence supports
AI involvement: reported. Krypometer reports that HIVE gave a 97 per cent probability that the first video was edited with AI and that a reverse image search found the original photo, in which the group raise two fingers instead of holding milk bottles; it reports that HIVE results show the second video and its speech were manipulated with AI. The fabricated likeness is what the profile published about the former MP, who said the videos are manipulated. The tool and the maker are not identified, and a detector score is a probability.
5 claims: 5 reported. What the statuses mean
Reported A Facebook profile published a video of LDK Youth Forum members, including former LDK MP Paris Guri, holding milk bottles, and a second video in which Guri purportedly praises Albin Kurti, shared with a Serbian-language caption calling him a beauty.

Spain: Partido Popular AI video showed PSOE figures and the prime minister's wife confessing alleged crimes; depicted ex-member Leire Díez files a complaint
During the campaign for Spain's 29 November general election, the Partido Popular (PP) posted on its official social media accounts on 21 October 2026 a video made with artificial intelligence, labelled as AI content, that parodies a PSOE campaign video. It shows AI-generated likenesses of the prime minister's wife Begoña Gómez, former prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, former minister José Luis Ábalos, former PSOE officials Santos Cerdán and Montse Mínguez and former party member Leire Díez, with imitated voices, each appearing to confess alleged crimes or irregular conduct. PSOE sources told Europa Press the party was studying legal action over the video, which elDiario.es and Cadena SER describe as impersonating these people, and PSOE's organisation secretary said the PP had nothing to offer but insults. PP spokespeople defended the video, saying it was clearly recognisable as AI. Europa Press reported more than a million views on X. By 23 October 2026 Leire Díez, one of the people depicted, had filed a criminal complaint (querella) against the PP for alleged defamation with publicity, offences against moral integrity and digital identity impersonation, asking for the video's provisional removal; Europa Press reports it was sent to the Madrid courts at Plaza de Castilla and El País that it was filed at the Audiencia Nacional. The complaint says the video uses artificial intelligence and her image and voice to accuse her of a serious crime, that its statements are false, that it had more than 21 million views, and that she and her daughters have had to isolate at home and she suffered an anxiety attack. Jurists consulted by El País considered a criminal case unlikely to succeed given the latitude for political satire and the video's AI label.
Mississippi Senate candidate posted undisclosed AI video of Sen. Hyde-Smith fleeing reporters; campaign deleted it after AG said it appeared to break state law
In early October 2026 the campaign of Scott Colom, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Mississippi, posted on social media a 19-second AI-generated video showing a woman made to look like his opponent, Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, running from a crowd of reporters at the U.S. Capitol and getting into a car. Local outlets report that the post called it "based on a true story" and did not disclose that it was made with AI. Hyde-Smith's campaign manager called it an AI video and part of a campaign of "lies and deception". On 22 October the Mississippi Republican Party asked the state Attorney General to investigate whether the video broke a state law against knowingly spreading a deceptive AI depiction of a candidate within 90 days of an election, and to seek an injunction. Colom's campaign manager defended the campaign's use of AI and called the complaint desperate; the law exempts satire and parody. On Friday 23 October Attorney General Lynn Fitch said she had notified the campaign that its AI-generated ads appeared to violate the state law against political deepfakes and asked that they be removed that afternoon, or her office might seek an injunction. Colom called the video parody but said the campaign would delete the post rather than spend donors' money on litigation, and by that afternoon two Mississippi stations reported that it no longer appeared on the campaign's Facebook page. No court has ruled on whether the video broke the law.
North Carolina attack ad used AI-generated video of congressional candidate Jamie Ager dancing with drag performers, fact check says; performers object
In October 2026 a 30-second television attack ad paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and approved by Republican state Rep. Jennifer Balkcom, the candidate in North Carolina's 11th congressional district, showed her Democratic opponent Jamie Ager at a barn dance with drag performers. A News & Observer fact check says the ad features videos generated by artificial intelligence and appears to manipulate real footage from one of Ager's own campaign ads, adding a pride flag to the barn wall and filling the barn with drag queens; the ad carries no AI disclaimer, and North Carolina has no AI-disclosure law for political ads. An Asheville drag performer shown in the ad told WLOS that the scene never happened, that she has never met Ager, that her likeness was used without permission and that she sent a cease-and-desist letter; Ager called the ad 100% fake AI-generated lies. Other performers named in the ad also objected. The NRCC said it stands by the ad.
Texas: State Rep. Vikki Goodwin, the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, filed a sworn complaint with the Travis County Sheriff's Office on 19 September 2026 alleging that two campaign ads posted on Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick's X account used AI-generated video of her saying things she never said; the posts were deleted the next day, her campaign says, and Patrick's campaign calls them obvious parody
On Saturday 19 September 2026 Vikki Goodwin, an Austin state representative running against Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, filed a complaint with a notarised affidavit at the Travis County Sheriff's Office accusing Patrick of violating Texas's 2019 election deepfake law, after his campaign posted two ads (5 and 12 September, on his non-government X account) containing AI-generated videos of her. In the affidavit she stated: 'I did not personally do or say the things depicted in the video; although the "person" in the video appears to be me, it was not actually me', and that the video was posted 'with the intent to deceive Texans, injure a candidate, or influence the result of an election'. She told KUT the ads made it look as though she favoured raising taxes, which she says she opposes in every campaign speech. The sheriff's office confirmed receipt of the complaint without further comment. Patrick's campaign spokesman told the New York Times the material was 'an obvious parody produced to entertain' and that none of it was published within 30 days of the election; the posts were taken down the day after the complaint, according to Goodwin's communications director. Goodwin said she doubted the sheriff's office would follow up now that the posts were removed. A conviction under the law is a class A misdemeanour.
