Greenwood, Indiana: police say a man used AI to remove a teenage girl's clothing from her photographs and a video; child exploitation charge, 30 Sept 2026
Greenwood, Indiana police say a man used artificial intelligence to remove clothing from photographs and a video of a teenage girl he knew, producing nude images of a real minor. According to court documents cited by Fox 59 and relayed by Hoodline, the girl contacted police in March after finding nude images of herself on the man's phone, which investigators say also held nude images of teenage girls and young adult women, including at least two underage girls the man knew personally. Court documents say the man first denied that any images were of underage girls, then said the images of the girl had been altered with AI, and told police he used the AI-generated images to teach the girls a lesson. He was charged with one count of child exploitation, a Level 5 felony, on 30 September 2026. The allegations are untested in court. The account rests on one chain: Fox 59's report of the court documents and the police account, relayed by Hoodline.

AI system as recorded: AI tool, not identified, which police say was used to remove a teenage girl's clothing from photographs and a video so that she appeared nude
What Happened
The images. Greenwood police say the accused used artificial intelligence to remove a teenage girl's clothing from photographs and a video, producing nude images of a real minor he knew. Court documents cited by Fox 59 say he first denied that any nude images on his phone were of underage girls, later said the images of the girl had been altered with AI, and that his collection included numerous images appearing to be AI-generated. The tool is not identified.
Discovery. According to Fox 59, the girl contacted Greenwood police in March (year not stated; the charge followed on 30 September 2026) saying the man possessed nude photographs of her. She recorded a video of herself scrolling through his phone, which investigators say contained numerous nude images of teenage girls and young adult women, including images of at least two underage girls he knew personally.
Stated motive. Per the court documents, the man told police he used the AI-generated images to teach the girls a lesson, wanting to show the girl what people are capable of.
Charge. He was charged on 30 September 2026 with one count of child exploitation, a Level 5 felony, which Hoodline reports carries up to six years in prison. Hoodline notes that Indiana's child-exploitation statute covers digitized or computer-generated depictions and that the case differs from the Seventh Circuit's Anderegg ruling on purely synthetic imagery because the depicted girls were allegedly real people the accused knew. The allegations are untested in court.
Reported harm
According to Greenwood police and court documents relayed by Fox 59 and Hoodline, a teenage girl's clothed photographs and a video were altered with AI into nude images that she found on the phone of a man she knew. The production of sexual images of a real minor is the reported harm; no further consequence for the girl is reported.
Outcome
OngoingCharged with one count of child exploitation, a Level 5 felony, on 30 September 2026, after an arrest in the week before 7 October 2026 (Hoodline, citing Greenwood police and Fox 59). Hoodline reports the charge carries up to six years in prison. No hearing, plea or verdict is reported.
What remains unknown
- When the images were made and which AI tool was used; the only dated events are the girl's report to police in March (year not stated in the inspected body) and the 30 September 2026 charge.
- Whether the images were shared with anyone, and how the girl has been affected beyond discovering the images and reporting them.
- Whether the images of the second underage girl police mention were also AI-altered.
- The accused's response in court; the allegations rest on police and court documents relayed by one chain.
What the evidence supports
AI involvement: reported. Greenwood police, through court documents cited by Fox 59 and relayed by Hoodline, say the accused used artificial intelligence to remove the girl's clothes from photographs and a video, and that he told police the images of the girl had been altered with AI and that he used the AI-generated images to teach the girls a lesson. The AI-altered sexual images of a real minor are the harm itself: they depict the girl (depicted_or_impersonated) and she found them on his phone. The tool is not identified, the images were not examined by the research agent, the Fox 59 report itself could not be read, and the allegations are untested in court.

Livingston Parish, Louisiana: sheriff's office says a woman first treated as a victim made the AI-generated nude photos and videos, rape threats and extortion attempts in an online threats case
On 24 July 2026 WBRZ, WAFB and the Livingston Parish News relayed a Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office (Louisiana) statement about an investigation into threats made by phone and online. The sheriff's office said one alleged victim was threatened with rape and other bodily harm unless money was paid, AI-generated photos and videos of one of the victims were sent to numerous family members and friends, and later threats included getting one victim fired. Homeland Security assisted after allegations that overseas suspects were involved through past relationships and acquaintances in Greece. The sheriff's office said subpoenas and search returns from platforms led back to a woman who had first been treated as a victim, and that after an interview with the woman the sheriff's office learned the woman made all of the fictitious accounts, the AI-generated nude photos and videos, the rape threats and the extortion attempts. The accused was booked on charges that include unlawful dissemination of AI nude photos, online impersonation and five counts of extortion, and was released on bond. The Livingston Parish News says the accused and one other person had reported as victims some or all of what the sheriff's office attributes to the accused. The charges are allegations and no conviction is reported. The AI tool is not identified, the victims are not described and the start date of the threats is not stated.
Bengaluru: a Hebbal police head constable says a stranger who contacted him through a Facebook friend request used AI tools to turn his old Facebook photographs into obscene images and videos, then demanded money and threatened to send them to his superiors and post them online; police register an extortion and IT Act case (16-18 September 2026)
A head constable at Hebbal police station in Bengaluru complained that on 16 September 2026 he accepted a Facebook friend request from an unknown account and exchanged sexually explicit messages with it over Messenger. According to his complaint, reported by the Times of India, the person behind the account downloaded his old Facebook photographs and used AI tools to make morphed obscene images and videos showing him with women, sent them to him with a QR code, demanded money in return for deleting them and threatened to send them to senior police officers and post them on social media, warning that this would damage his reputation. The harassment continued until 18 September. He gave police copies of the messages and the morphed images. Hebbal police registered a case under IT Act sections 66E and 67A and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 308 (extortion) and 351 (criminal intimidation), took steps to stop the material being uploaded and are trying to trace the account holder. Police in Rohtak district, Haryana, registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and rape provisions, reported on 8 October 2026, after a 17-year-old girl from a village in the district told them that two men who delivered building material to her home had taken photographs of her, made obscene photographs and videos from them with AI, and used the threat of posting the material on social media to force her to meet them and rape her repeatedly, according to Dainik Bhaskar and Jagmarg News (both 8 October 2026). In the complainant's account relayed by the two outlets, the first assault followed an Instagram message in December 2025, further assaults took place in January and March 2026, and the most recent on 5 October 2026, after which she collapsed in a lane near her home and told her family, who called the police.
