Rohtak district, India: POCSO case registered after a 17-year-old says two men made obscene AI images of her and used them to coerce repeated rape since 2025
Police in Rohtak district, Haryana, registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and rape provisions, reported on 8 October 2026, after a 17-year-old girl from a village in the district told them that two men who delivered building material to her home had taken photographs of her, made obscene photographs and videos from them with AI, and used the threat of posting the material on social media to force her to meet them and rape her repeatedly, according to Dainik Bhaskar and Jagmarg News (both 8 October 2026). In the complainant's account relayed by the two outlets, the first assault followed an Instagram message in December 2025, further assaults took place in January and March 2026, and the most recent on 5 October 2026, after which she collapsed in a lane near her home and told her family, who called the police. The district Child Welfare Committee said she has been counselled. The police statement quoted by Dainik Bhaskar describes a complaint of forced sexual acts by two men and an investigation, without mentioning AI; the AI claim rests on the complainant's account as relayed by the outlets. No arrest is reported and the accused have not been heard.

AI system as recorded: AI tool, not identified, which according to the complainant's account relayed by Dainik Bhaskar and Jagmarg News the two accused used to make obscene photographs and videos of her from photographs they had taken of her
What Happened
The complaint. According to Dainik Bhaskar (Rohtak edition, 8 October 2026), a 17-year-old girl from a village in Rohtak district told police that two young men who supplied building material had visited her home repeatedly during construction work and had taken photographs of her then. She said the two then made obscene photographs and videos of her with AI and, threatening to post them on social media, forced her into sexual acts. Jagmarg News (8 October 2026) gives the same account: the accused secretly photographed her during their visits and, it is alleged, later used an AI tool to make obscene and objectionable photographs and videos from those pictures.
The assaults as described by the complainant. She said the first contact was an Instagram message in December 2025 calling her outside her home with the threat of making the obscene photographs go viral; she said she was taken in a car to the men's office and raped by both. She described further assaults in January 2026 (in a car at an isolated place, by both men) and in March 2026 (after a call to her mother's phone, at the office), and said that on 5 October 2026, while she was staying with an uncle, one of the men took her by car to a room next to his office and raped her, threatening to kill her if she told anyone. She said she felt dizzy and collapsed in the lane while walking home; her family found her, questioned her, and called the police emergency number 112.
Official statements. Dainik Bhaskar quotes the police station as saying that a minor girl has filed a complaint accusing two young men of forced sexual acts, that a case has been registered and an investigation begun, and that the accused will be apprehended soon. The chairman of the district Child Welfare Committee said the girl has been counselled and her family spoken to, and that a case has been registered under the POCSO Act. Jagmarg News says the case was registered under the POCSO Act and rape provisions and that police were raiding the accused's likely hideouts.
What the sources do not establish. The AI claim appears only in the complainant's account as relayed by the two outlets; the quoted police statement does not mention AI, no official has described examining the images, and the tool is not identified. The two reports carry the same account from the same morning. The accused have not been arrested or quoted. No medical or court record was inspected.
Reported harm
According to the complainant's account relayed by Dainik Bhaskar and Jagmarg News, a 17-year-old was raped repeatedly between December 2025 and 5 October 2026 by two men who threatened to post obscene AI-made photographs and videos of her on social media; the Child Welfare Committee said she has been counselled, and she collapsed in the street after the most recent assault.
Outcome
OngoingA case under the POCSO Act and rape provisions has been registered at a Rohtak district police station against two men, who had not been arrested when the reports were published on 8 October 2026; police said they would be apprehended soon. The Child Welfare Committee has counselled the complainant. No arrest, charge sheet or court step is reported.
What remains unknown
- Which AI tool was used and whether any official has examined the photographs and videos; the quoted police statement does not mention AI.
- Whether the obscene material was shown to the complainant or sent to anyone; the reports describe threats to post it, not circulation.
- Whether the accused have been arrested or have responded; neither report quotes them.
- The exact date the case was registered (the reports of 8 October 2026 say it has been registered) and the sections applied beyond the POCSO Act and rape provisions.
What the evidence supports
AI involvement: reported. In the complainant's account relayed by Dainik Bhaskar and Jagmarg News, the two accused took photographs of the girl during visits to her home and made obscene photographs and videos of her with AI (Jagmarg: using an AI tool to make obscene and objectionable photos and videos from those pictures), then threatened to post that material on social media to force her to meet them, which is how she says the repeated rapes were coerced. The AI-made material depicts her (depicted_or_impersonated) and its threatened circulation is the described means of coercion. The quoted police statement describes the complaint of forced sexual acts without mentioning AI, no official is reported to have examined the images, and the tool is not identified; the account is a complaint under investigation.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat: a 27-year-old Delhi man was arrested for posting AI-morphed obscene images and videos of a young woman and her mother (more than 100 images found) on fake accounts in her name after she declined his friendship, while posing as the friend reporting the fake accounts for her
On 28 May 2026 the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch announced the arrest in north-east Delhi of a 27-year-old man who posts religious discourse videos online. Police allege that after meeting a young Ahmedabad woman with a public social-media profile through religious conversations on Instagram and being refused friendship, he stalked her online from December 2025 to April 2026, created fake accounts in her name (three Instagram accounts and a YouTube channel at first; eight to ten across X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube were found on his phone), downloaded photographs of her and her mother, used websites found by searching "AI remove clothes" to generate morphed obscene images and videos of the two women, and posted them with obscene captions to damage her reputation; investigators say more than 100 AI-morphed images of the complainant were found. Officers told ThePrint and ANI that she had confided in him about the accounts and that he told her to keep quiet and claimed to be reporting the accounts and getting hers reinstated. She complained to the Cyber Crime Police Station; an FIR was registered on 6 April 2026 under BNS Sections 78(2) and 356(2) and IT Act Sections 66(C) and 67, and the accused was traced through technical surveillance and arrested under the Branch's "Mission Cyber Rakshika" campaign. The complainant said she was mentally harassed and defamed; the DCP said the images also depicted her maternal aunt. Further investigation was under way; no charge sheet or court outcome was found.
