Austria: MEP Lena Schilling learns that about a dozen websites show or link to AI-generated sexualised images of her, files a police complaint and gets the sites taken offline after about ten days
Der Standard reported on 28 September 2026, from an interview with Lena Schilling (Green MEP, Austria) conducted with the Salzburger Nachrichten, that about two weeks earlier she had been informed, through an ongoing survey by the Berlin think tank Agora Digitale Transformation, that websites with AI-generated nude images of her existed; about a dozen websites showed such deepfakes or linked to them. She says photos of her were used on AI platforms to undress her against her will, that she felt sick on first seeing the images and then angry, and that she and her team documented the cases, filed a complaint with the Austrian police, reported them to the anti-hate body ZARA, wrote to the websites and reported them to search engines; all sites were offline after about ten days. Through a Greens statement relayed by APA (Krone, Salzburger Nachrichten) she said 'Man hat uns gegen unseren Willen ausgezogen' and called for political decisions to protect women. Her case belongs to a second, still ongoing wave of the Agora study, whose first wave found sexualised deepfakes of 138 female and nine male national parliamentarians in 22 EU countries.

AI system as recorded: AI image tools ('KI-Plattformen' in Schilling's words to Der Standard; the study author describes the surveyed gateway sites in general as linking to a 'Nudifier-Tool') used by unknown operators to generate sexualised nude images of the MEP from her photos, shown on or linked from about a dozen websites; the tools and sites are not identified
What Happened
Der Standard (28 September 2026, Gustav Andree) reports that Lena Schilling felt sick when she first saw AI-generated nude photos of herself on the internet; two weeks earlier the Green MEP had been informed that such websites with sexualised content of her existed. She is quoted: photos of her were used on AI platforms to undress her against her will. After the nausea came anger, and she decided to take legal steps and try to get the sites offline; she and her team documented, reported and filed a complaint with the Austrian police. She was alerted in the course of a survey by the Berlin think tank Agora Digitale Transformation, whose author Benjamin Shultz is examining how many members of the European Parliament and of the 27 national parliaments are affected by fake nude images; a first study of national parliamentarians found deepfakes of nine male and 138 female politicians from 22 EU countries, and the second wave, in which Schilling's sites were found, is ongoing with results expected in about four weeks. About a dozen websites showing sexualised deepfakes of Schilling were found; she is quoted that they filed a complaint, reported the cases to ZARA (the Austrian body against online hate and violence), wrote to the websites directly and reported the pages to search engines, and that it took about ten days until all sites were offline; she notes that invoking copyright worked more reliably with American servers than invoking the prohibited sexualised depiction, and that such sites can always be recreated. Shultz adds that entries often remain in Google search results after sites go down. The Kronen Zeitung and Salzburger Nachrichten (both 28 September 2026), relaying an APA report on a Greens statement, quote Schilling: 'Man hat uns gegen unseren Willen ausgezogen. KI verstärkt Gewalt gegen Frauen, und deshalb braucht es politische Entscheidungen, die uns schützen. Das kann nicht die neue Normalität werden', and that her own case makes her angry for every young woman wondering whether to enter politics. Mimikama (29 September 2026) notes that the Greens' statement counting Schilling among the 138 affected female parliamentarians does not fit, since the published study covered national parliaments only and her case comes from the ongoing second round.
Reported harm
AI-generated sexualised nude images of the MEP were shown on or linked from about a dozen websites; she reports feeling sick and then angry and had to pursue a police complaint and takedowns over about ten days (her account to Der Standard and the Salzburger Nachrichten; her statement via APA).
Outcome
UnknownSchilling says she and her team documented the sites, filed a complaint (Anzeige) with the Austrian police, reported the cases to ZARA, wrote to the site operators and reported the pages to search engines; all sites were offline after about ten days (Der Standard, 28 September 2026). No investigation outcome, suspect or court step is reported. The Greens in the European Parliament used the case to demand enforcement of the EU 'nudifier' ban applying from 2 December 2026 (APA via Krone and Salzburger Nachrichten).
What remains unknown
- Which websites and which AI tools were involved, where they were operated and who created the images.
- When the images were first created or posted; only the date she was informed (about two weeks before 28 September 2026) is given.
- Whether the police opened an investigation after her complaint.
- Whether the EU-Abgeordnete count in the Krone/APA text (147 'EU-Abgeordnete') refers to national parliamentarians, as Der Standard and Mimikama state.
What the evidence supports
AI involvement: reported. Schilling states that photos of her were used on AI platforms to undress her against her will ('Fotos von mir wurden auf KI-Plattformen verwendet, um mich gegen meinen Willen auszuziehen', Der Standard) and the sites were identified by the Agora Digitale Transformation survey of AI-generated sexualised deepfakes of parliamentarians; the study author describes 'gateway' sites linking to nudifier tools. The images were not inspected by the researcher and no tool or site is named. The AI depicted her (depicted_or_impersonated).
4 claims: 4 reported. What the statuses mean

Reported The Agora study's first wave found sexualised deepfakes of 138 female and nine male national parliamentarians from 22 EU countries; Schilling's case comes from a second, ongoing wave covering the European Parliament, so the Greens' description of her as one of the 138 does not fit.

Schilling is described as the Austrian Green MEP (Krone: 'die österreichische Politikerin Lena Schilling') and filed her complaint with the Austrian police (Der Standard); where the websites were operated is not stated for her case (the study author says most such sites are registered in America, a general remark), so no event country is recorded. No court is involved.

Chennai: a former employee downloaded a senior woman colleague's photographs from their company's website, morphed them into obscene images with AI applications and circulated them to the company's staff through fake Instagram accounts from 4 January 2026; Tamil Nadu's cyber-crime wing traced and arrested her (reported 4 February 2026) and she was remanded in judicial custody
From 4 January 2026 several employees of a Chennai company received follow requests from unknown Instagram accounts that then circulated defamatory content, including obscene AI-morphed images of a senior woman employee. On her complaint the State Cyber Crime Investigation Centre of the Tamil Nadu police traced the digital footprints, social-media activity and IP logs to a former employee of the same company who had resigned in October 2025 and, according to police, acted out of resentment and previous enmity to threaten, harass and publicly humiliate the victim; she had taken the photographs from the company's official website and morphed them using various artificial-intelligence applications. She was arrested, produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody; the police press release was reported on 4 and 5 February 2026 and the cyber-crime DGP issued a public warning about social-media misuse. The victim alleged the images were circulated to damage her reputation and cause mental distress.

Houston Public Media reported police allegations that a gun-store co-owner created sexual images and fake social-media accounts impersonating an influencer. According to the reported court documents, she described fear, anxiety, humiliation, reputational damage and financial loss. The source says the accused described using “AI or Photoshop”, leaving the method unresolved. His business emphasised that the allegations were unproven. No conviction or loss amount is established.
Cookeville, Tennessee: two high-school students were charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor after the sheriff's office said they used an AI program to turn photographs, including those of female classmates, into sexually explicit images and posted them; the mother of one depicted girl says her daughter shut herself in her room and stopped talking to friends
On 31 August 2026 the Putnam County Sheriff's Office was told of possible sharing of sexually explicit images at Cookeville High School. Detectives found that two male teenage students had used an artificial-intelligence program to turn photographs obtained online, in some cases photographs of fellow female students, into sexually explicit images, and had shared them; explicit images already stored on one phone were also shared. Both juveniles were taken to the Putnam County Juvenile Detention Center. One was charged with one count each of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, the other with two counts of each. The district attorney told NewsChannel 5 on 21 September that the two would be prosecuted in juvenile court. The mother of one of the depicted girls told the station the episode was very hard on her daughter, who had made no naked photographs herself, locked herself in her room and would not talk to her, to anybody or to her friends. The sheriff's-office account and the school system's statement were carried by WZTV, WSMV and 3B Media News on 1-2 September; NewsChannel 5 added its own interviews with the sheriff, the district attorney and the mother on 21 September. The tool is not named. The juveniles are not named in any report.
Delhi: a 25-year-old content creator says her photograph was morphed with AI face-swapping tools onto a vulgar image beside the Prime Minister, printed on banners paraded at a Cockroach Janta Party protest at Jantar Mantar and circulated online; FIR registered 24 September 2026, Delhi High Court orders Meta takedown within 24 hours and police protection on 25 September
A 25-year-old content creator from Delhi complained to the police that organisers and demonstrators at a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar had taken her personal photograph without consent, used AI face-swapping tools to morph her face onto a vulgar, compromising image alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, printed the image on banners waved before crowds with sexually suggestive slogans, and circulated videos of the banners on Instagram and other platforms; her later High Court petition adds that the images were uploaded to pornographic websites and that she has received rape, acid-attack and death threats. The Delhi Police registered an FIR against unknown persons at the New Delhi cyber police station on 24 September 2026 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. On 25 September Justice Girish Kathpalia of the Delhi High Court directed Meta Platforms to remove the objectionable content within 24 hours, ordered the Delhi Police to give the petitioner complete protection and file a status report within a week, issued notice to the four CJP functionaries named in her plea, ordered the registry to redact the impugned web links from the petition (and, per PTI, her name), and listed the matter for 14 October 2026 (PTI, Ommcom News). The police told the court the FIR had been registered the previous day and that action would be taken expeditiously; no accused had been named or arrested at that stage. The petition says the protest took place in July 2026 and that she approached the police on 23 September; the CJP had not commented at the time of the first report.
