Russian Telegram channels spread AI-generated nude images of a Georgian combat medic serving on the Ukrainian side, with claims that the medic had been captured, raped or killed; thousands of accounts shared them, TV 2 reports
The Norwegian broadcaster TV 2 reported on 26 September 2026 that Russian Telegram channels had posted claims that a Georgian doctor serving as a combat medic on the Ukrainian side had been captured and was in Russia, or had been raped or killed, and that some channels published manipulated nude images of her. TV 2 states that the posts were made by Russians and were AI-generated. Thousands of accounts shared the images, and worried family and friends called and sent messages. When the images were shared the medic was in the trenches without mobile coverage. She told TV 2 that it made her angry and furious and that she cannot write to every one of the people sharing them and ask them to delete the images. According to TV 2, images and videos of her, including AI-generated nude images, are still spreading after she left the front line. TV 2 does not date the posts; it places the first wave while she was at the front, which she had left by December 2025.

AI system as recorded: AI-generated ('KI-genererte') posts and nude images of the medic spread on Russian Telegram channels, per TV 2; the tool is not named
What Happened
The posts. TV 2 (Norway) reported on 26 September 2026 that the medic's phone kept ringing and messages kept arriving from worried family and friends who wanted to know what had happened. The reason was posts they had seen on Russian Telegram channels. According to TV 2, the channels claimed that the medic had been captured and was in Russia; some claimed that she had been raped or killed, and others published manipulated nude images of her. TV 2 states that the claims varied but that the posts had two things in common: they were made by Russians, and they were AI-generated ('KI-genererte').
At the front. When the images were shared the medic was in the trenches, without mobile coverage, fighting Russian forces. Thousands of accounts shared the images. 'It made me so angry and furious,' she told TV 2, and she said she cannot write to every one of them and ask them to delete the images. She said the beginning was the worst: in the grey zone they had no coverage for several days, and that was when the posts spread most. She says she has since stopped caring about it.
Still spreading. TV 2 reports that images and videos of her, including AI-generated nude images, are still spreading after she left the front line. She says the Russians are trying to frighten women with false information and manipulated images, and that women are used as bait for Russian propaganda.
Wider pattern (relayed). TV 2 cites the BBC as reporting that many Ukrainian female soldiers experience the same, that the pattern has continued since the start of the war, and that the posts together have had more than 65 million views. This record does not count those soldiers; the BBC report was not read for this record.
Limits. The account rests on one TV 2 interview. TV 2 does not name the channels or the tool, does not say how it established that the posts were AI-generated or made by Russians, and does not date the posts. The images were not inspected.
Reported harm

Outcome
UnknownTV 2 interviewed the medic and published the account on 26 September 2026. No platform action, removal, complaint or investigation is reported.
What remains unknown
- When the posts were first made (TV 2 places the first wave while she was at the front, before December 2025) and over what period they spread.
- Which Telegram channels posted them and which tool made the images.
- How TV 2 established that the posts were AI-generated and made by Russians.
- Whether the images were reported to Telegram or removed.
What the evidence supports
AI involvement: reported. TV 2 states in its own voice that the posts were made by Russians and were AI-generated ('KI-genererte'), and that AI-generated nude images of the medic are still spreading. It also calls the images manipulated. TV 2 does not name the tool or say how it established that the material was AI-generated, and the images were not inspected. The images depicted the medic (depicted_or_impersonated).

TV 2 says the medic served on the Ukrainian side in Ukraine and was in the trenches without mobile coverage when the images were shared, so Ukraine is where she was when the posts first spread. TV 2 reports that she later left Ukraine; the record lists only the country where she was when the posts first spread. The channels are described as Russian, but no source states where the posts were made or viewed, so no event country is recorded. No court proceeding is reported.

Austria: MEP Lena Schilling learns that about a dozen websites show or link to AI-generated sexualised images of her, files a police complaint and gets the sites taken offline after about ten days
Der Standard reported on 28 September 2026, from an interview with Lena Schilling (Green MEP, Austria) conducted with the Salzburger Nachrichten, that about two weeks earlier she had been informed, through an ongoing survey by the Berlin think tank Agora Digitale Transformation, that websites with AI-generated nude images of her existed; about a dozen websites showed such deepfakes or linked to them. She says photos of her were used on AI platforms to undress her against her will, that she felt sick on first seeing the images and then angry, and that she and her team documented the cases, filed a complaint with the Austrian police, reported them to the anti-hate body ZARA, wrote to the websites and reported them to search engines; all sites were offline after about ten days. Through a Greens statement relayed by APA (Krone, Salzburger Nachrichten) she said 'Man hat uns gegen unseren Willen ausgezogen' and called for political decisions to protect women. Her case belongs to a second, still ongoing wave of the Agora study, whose first wave found sexualised deepfakes of 138 female and nine male national parliamentarians in 22 EU countries.
Chennai: a former employee downloaded a senior woman colleague's photographs from their company's website, morphed them into obscene images with AI applications and circulated them to the company's staff through fake Instagram accounts from 4 January 2026; Tamil Nadu's cyber-crime wing traced and arrested her (reported 4 February 2026) and she was remanded in judicial custody
From 4 January 2026 several employees of a Chennai company received follow requests from unknown Instagram accounts that then circulated defamatory content, including obscene AI-morphed images of a senior woman employee. On her complaint the State Cyber Crime Investigation Centre of the Tamil Nadu police traced the digital footprints, social-media activity and IP logs to a former employee of the same company who had resigned in October 2025 and, according to police, acted out of resentment and previous enmity to threaten, harass and publicly humiliate the victim; she had taken the photographs from the company's official website and morphed them using various artificial-intelligence applications. She was arrested, produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody; the police press release was reported on 4 and 5 February 2026 and the cyber-crime DGP issued a public warning about social-media misuse. The victim alleged the images were circulated to damage her reputation and cause mental distress.

Cookeville, Tennessee: two high-school students were charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor after the sheriff's office said they used an AI program to turn photographs, including those of female classmates, into sexually explicit images and posted them; the mother of one depicted girl says her daughter shut herself in her room and stopped talking to friends
On 31 August 2026 the Putnam County Sheriff's Office was told of possible sharing of sexually explicit images at Cookeville High School. Detectives found that two male teenage students had used an artificial-intelligence program to turn photographs obtained online, in some cases photographs of fellow female students, into sexually explicit images, and had shared them; explicit images already stored on one phone were also shared. Both juveniles were taken to the Putnam County Juvenile Detention Center. One was charged with one count each of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, the other with two counts of each. The district attorney told NewsChannel 5 on 21 September that the two would be prosecuted in juvenile court. The mother of one of the depicted girls told the station the episode was very hard on her daughter, who had made no naked photographs herself, locked herself in her room and would not talk to her, to anybody or to her friends. The sheriff's-office account and the school system's statement were carried by WZTV, WSMV and 3B Media News on 1-2 September; NewsChannel 5 added its own interviews with the sheriff, the district attorney and the mother on 21 September. The tool is not named. The juveniles are not named in any report.
