West Bengal Teen - AI Deepfake Image Suicide (India)

A teenage girl, a class 10 student (approximately 15-16 years old), was found dead by hanging in her room in Sonarpur, West Bengal, India on November 28, 2025.

A married man from her locality had collected her photographs, used AI deepfake tools to generate nude images of her, and circulated them on social media. The girl had reported to her mother that the accused had been blackmailing and harassing her using the AI-generated images.

She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

AI deepfake tools enabled an adult perpetrator to create non-consensual nude imagery of a minor from innocuous photographs. The resulting images were used for sustained blackmail and harassment, and were circulated on social media, causing the victim severe psychological distress and public humiliation that led to her death by suicide.

The case demonstrates how AI nudification tools can be weaponized for image-based sexual abuse of minors.
