Pontevedra, Spain: court upholds sentences on three 15-year-olds who used an AI undressing app to make fake nude images of two classmates from their Instagram photos and showed them to other pupils
Diario de Pontevedra and Faro de Vigo reported on 1 October 2026 that the Audiencia Provincial de Pontevedra had upheld a juvenile-court judgment against three boys who, aged 15 in January 2024, used an AI undressing app to turn photos two female classmates had posted on Instagram into fake nude images. According to the ruling as reported, the images were made from 15 January 2024 and shown to other pupils in class and on a school trip on 1 February 2024, and they circulated among pupils for more than fifteen days. The Juzgado de Menores found the three responsible for two offences against moral integrity and imposed socio-educational tasks on each (two five-month measures according to Diario de Pontevedra, five months according to Faro de Vigo), plus €1,000 compensation to each girl for moral damage. The school had expelled them for 15, 21 and 30 days. The appeal ruling is final.

AI system as recorded: An AI undressing app that the ruling, as quoted by Diario de Pontevedra, calls Undress Up (Faro de Vigo: Undress App), used to generate fake nude images from photos taken from Instagram
What Happened
What the ruling found, as reported. Diario de Pontevedra quotes the Audiencia Provincial's ruling, and Faro de Vigo summarises it. The three boys were born in 2008 and were in the fourth year of ESO at a school in Pontevedra. Around 20:30 on 15 January 2024, after leaving an English academy, they registered with an AI undressing app (named Undress Up in the ruling as quoted by Diario de Pontevedra, Undress App in Faro de Vigo) using one boy's phone and Gmail account. They used it to make sexual photo montages of two female classmates from images the girls had posted in their Instagram stories. The next day one of the boys showed the AI-generated images to two classmates during class. On or before 1 February 2024, including during a school trip that day, another showed them to four friends, and another of the boys made two further montages of one of the girls in front of classmates, using photos from a WhatsApp group.
Consequences. The court found the images objectively capable of seriously undermining the girls' dignity and noted that they circulated among pupils for more than fifteen days. The school expelled the three boys for 15, 21 and 30 days. On the prosecutor's application, the Juzgado de Menores found them responsible for two offences against moral integrity. It imposed socio-educational tasks on each (two five-month measures according to Diario de Pontevedra, five months according to Faro de Vigo), aimed at understanding the consequences for others, appropriate use of social networks and AI, and respect for others' image and privacy, and ordered €1,000 compensation to each girl for moral damage. One boy appealed, alleging a breach of the presumption of innocence, no intent to humiliate and a disproportionate measure. The Audiencia rejected the appeal, finding his participation sufficiently proven by the statements of the others involved and of several witnesses, and its ruling is final.
Limits. The ruling itself was not read. Both reports describe it, and the app's name differs between them. The girls' own accounts are not reported. One sentence in Diario de Pontevedra mentions three young people harmed, but every other passage in both reports concerns two girls, and the compensation is ordered for two victims.
Reported harm
Two female classmates were depicted in AI-generated fake nude images that three boys made from their Instagram photos and showed to other pupils, the images circulating for more than fifteen days; a court ordered €1,000 compensation to each for moral damage (ruling as reported by Diario de Pontevedra and Faro de Vigo).
Outcome
ResolvedThe Juzgado de Menores de Pontevedra, at the prosecutor's request, found the three boys responsible for two offences against moral integrity and imposed socio-educational tasks on each (two five-month measures according to Diario de Pontevedra, five months according to Faro de Vigo), plus €1,000 compensation to each girl for moral damage (jointly with their parents, per Faro de Vigo). The Audiencia Provincial de Pontevedra (Section Four) rejected one boy's appeal and confirmed the judgment in full; the ruling is final. The school had earlier expelled the three for 15, 21 and 30 days.
What remains unknown
- The exact name of the app (Undress Up in one report, Undress App in the other) and who operates it.
- How the girls learned of the images and what effects they themselves describe.
- Whether the images spread beyond the pupils named in the ruling.
- The date of the first-instance judgment.
- Whether each boy received one or two five-month socio-educational measures (the reports differ).
What the evidence supports

Ribera Alta, Valencia: a 17-year-old was investigated for making AI-generated nude images and videos of 16 schoolmates, impersonating a girl on fake accounts and advertising the images for sale
In December 2024 a female student in the Ribera Alta area of Valencia province reported to the Guardia Civil that a social-media account had been created in her name featuring an AI-generated video, and later a second account in her name, other accounts showing AI-generated nude videos, and a webpage advertising the images for commercial purposes; the Guardia Civil said the photos, all of minors, had been manipulated so that the people in them appeared completely naked. After 15 other minors came forward with similar complaints, officers traced IP addresses and account emails to the home of a 17-year-old schoolmate, who is being investigated on suspicion of corrupting minors under a Valencia youth court. The Guardia Civil announced the investigation on 27 July 2025.

In September 2023 families in Almendralejo (Badajoz, Spain) reported that artificial-intelligence 'undressing' applications had been used to create fake nude images of local girls aged 11 to 17 from their social-media photographs, and that the images circulated in WhatsApp groups. Police counted 22 victims and identified 10 suspects, all minors, within days. On 20 June 2024 the Badajoz juvenile court, in an agreed judgment, held 15 minors responsible for 20 counts of child pornography and 20 counts against moral integrity and imposed one year of supervised release with an education programme.
Henderson, Kentucky: police identified AI-generated nude images of two middle-school children on a device after a report that such images were being created and shown to other students at South Middle School; a juvenile was lodged at the juvenile detention centre on charges of distributing sexually explicit images without consent and possessing and distributing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor
Henderson Police said that on 'last Thursday' (17 September 2026) they received a report that AI-generated nude images of children were being created and shown to other students at South Middle School in Henderson, Kentucky. During the investigation officers found and identified AI-generated photographs of two minor victims on a digital device. A juvenile accused of sharing the images was lodged at the Juvenile Detention Center on three charge types: distribution of sexually explicit images without consent; two counts of possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor over 12 and under 18; and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor over 12 and under 18. The school said on Monday 21 September that it was aware of a situation involving a student allegedly misusing artificial intelligence and inappropriate images, that the police investigation was active and that it had remained in communication with the families involved. 14 News (WFIE) reported the case on 21 September; WKYT carried the same report. The tool is not named. The depicted children's exact ages are not reported, though the charge descriptors put them between 12 and 18. The accused is described as a South Middle School student; the accused's age and any relationship to the depicted children beyond attending the same school are not reported.
Jaú, São Paulo: eight 15-year-old ninth-grade boys at a private school are reported to have made fake nude images of a female classmate with artificial intelligence and shared them in a WhatsApp group; the school suspended them and the Civil Police are investigating a 15-year-old for dissemination of child pornography and defamation
In early September 2026 a private school in Jaú, in the interior of São Paulo state, identified the circulation of fake intimate images of a female classmate made with artificial intelligence and contacted the families. According to the police report described by the press, eight ninth-grade boys, all aged 15, kept a WhatsApp group in which they used digital programs to manipulate images of the student so that she appeared unclothed. The school suspended the eight and informed the girl's parents. The father of one of the boys checked his son's phone, found the files and took the boy and the phone to the police to register a report; the girl's parents also registered a police report. The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat said the Civil Police are investigating a 15-year-old for dissemination of child pornography and defamation that occurred on the morning of Thursday 3 September. The school said the content originated on a private platform outside the school environment and that it had adopted protective and welcoming measures for the student and opened an internal inquiry. The AI tool used is not named. The students are minors and are not named in any report.
