In March 2024 the newspaper AD revealed that a large number of Dutch women in public life, including artists, television presenters, Olympic athletes, current and former ministers, mayors and members of the royal family, appeared in manipulated pornographic videos on an online platform with 13 million monthly visitors, later identified as MrDeepFakes. Dozens of women filed police complaints and several spoke publicly: one presenter said she was preparing a complaint, a party leader said the video felt like 'digital rape', another presenter said she would file a complaint 'because tomorrow it could happen to young girls of sixteen', a presenter-entrepreneur did so 'to prevent new, young victims', and a member of parliament, told of a video by the House security service, went public rather than 'keep it small'. On 19 and 20 September 2026 AD, and the Public Prosecution Service (OM) confirming to NOS, reported that after more than a year of investigation the OM will prosecute a 74-year-old man from Noord-Holland, who is not in custody, for making the videos (Hart van Nederland, citing AD, says he is suspected of making and distributing them); images of about sixty well-known Dutch people and politicians were found on his devices, AD reported that he had been the platform's most active Dutch user, and he faces up to two years' imprisonment. The platform's Canadian operator, who removed material at the OM's request and blocked Dutch IP addresses before the site went offline, will not be prosecuted. One of the presenters reported to be among the depicted told AD she was relieved the case would go to court, having experienced the impact of such images herself. No hearing date has been set.

What Happened

NOS reported on 19 March 2024, citing AD, that several well-known Dutch women were considering legal steps after appearing in manipulated pornographic videos on a platform with 13 million monthly visitors, on which a large number of Dutch artists, presenters, Olympic athletes, current and former ministers, mayors and members of the royal family appeared; AD withheld the platform's name to protect the victims; the justice minister called the videos sickening and urged victims to file complaints, and managers and spokespeople confirmed to NOS that complaints had been filed or legal steps were being considered. On 20 March 2024 NOS reported that several women had gone public: a presenter said on a talk show that she was preparing a complaint; a party leader said on a talk show that the video felt like 'digitale verkrachting'; an SBS presenter told AD she would file a complaint 'omdat het morgen ook bij jonge meisjes van 16 kan gebeuren'; an entrepreneur-presenter told NOS she was filing 'om nieuwe, jonge slachtoffers te voorkomen'; and a member of parliament, informed by the House security service and advised to keep it quiet to limit traffic to the videos, announced on Twitter that she would file a complaint, saying she was done with women having to stay silent out of fear. On 20 September 2026 NOS reported that the OM will prosecute a 74-year-old man from Noord-Holland for making deepfake porn of dozens of well-known Dutch women, confirmed by an OM spokesperson after AD's reporting; he came into view last year, has been informed after more than a year of investigation, and risks up to two years in prison; the site's Toronto-based operator had removed images at the OM's request and blocked Dutch IP addresses before the site went offline, and will not be prosecuted. NH Nieuws, citing AD, adds that images of about sixty well-known Dutch people and politicians were found on his computer and other data carriers, that AD's investigation into MrDeepFakes led to more than twenty complaints, that he was said to be the platform's most active Dutch user, that some videos were viewed tens of thousands of times with Dutch users suggesting new names underneath, and that one of the presenters told AD she was relieved the case would come to court, having experienced the impact of such images herself. Hart van Nederland, also citing AD, names three of the depicted women, including a member of the royal family, and says the man is suspected of making and distributing countless fake videos. A Rajasthan social-media influencer visited Haridwar with her family in June 2026 and on 6 June uploaded to Instagram a short video, recorded by relatives, of herself taking a dip in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri wearing a salwar suit. About two months later she found that the video had been manipulated with AI into an objectionable version showing the same movements with her face and body portrayed 'in a shameful manner'; the fake reel went viral in the week before 20 September and drew objectionable comments and re-sharing. Dainik Bhaskar's English edition reported the case on 20 September in a 'Sunday Big Story' that does not name her.

Brazilian police investigate creator over sexualised videos made from congregants' photos he says he animated with AI; two teenage girls filed reports

São Paulo police are investigating a social-media creator over sexualised videos he made from photographs of young women and girls in a church congregation, which he said he animated with AI. Two teenage girls filed police reports, and one described embarrassment and fear about the exposure. The creator, through his lawyer, says the posts were humour and denies criminal intent; no charge has been reported.

Taiwan: YouTuber and assistant who sold AI face-swap sexual videos of 119 people, including politicians and influencers, convicted and ordered to pay damages

From July 2020 sexual videos showing the faces of Taiwanese politicians and influencers circulated online. Taiwan's Criminal Investigation Bureau said in October 2021 that the videos had been made by superimposing people's faces onto existing pornographic videos using deep learning technology; PTS describes the makers as a YouTuber with about a million subscribers and his assistant, who sold the videos. Prosecutors counted 119 victims, and the indictment, as reported by Taiwan's public broadcaster PTS, describes the misuse of AI synthesis technology (Deepfake). The New Taipei District Court convicted the pair in July 2022 under the Personal Data Protection Act on 119 counts; on the prosecutors' appeal the High Court increased the YouTuber's sentence, and the Supreme Court upheld it in May 2024, ruling that such videos harm the depicted people's reputation and mental health. In December 2025 the Supreme Court rejected his challenge to an aggregate term of six years and four months, as reported by the Liberty Times. Civil courts ordered the pair to pay NT$1 million each to two women in December 2022 and a total of NT$1.85 million to six women in December 2024.

St. Clair v. xAI: writer says Grok made sexualised images of her, including from a photo at 14; a Texas court refuses to dismiss xAI's forum suit against her

Ashley St. Clair, a writer and political commentator with about 1 million followers on X, sued xAI in New York on 15 January 2026. She alleges that from on or about 4 January 2026 Grok, prompted by other X users, altered photos of her into sexualized images and published them on X, including one made from a photo of her at 14. She says @Grok told her that her images would not be used or altered without explicit consent, but many more images followed. She also says X's reporting channel found no violation and that X removed her Premium subscription, verification checkmark and monetization. She says she has suffered serious pain, mental distress and humiliation. The same day, xAI sued her in federal court in Texas, arguing that its terms of service required her to sue there. On 23 June 2026 the New York federal court ordered her case transferred to Texas. On 8 July the Second Circuit stayed that order administratively while it considers her mandamus petition, which was still pending on 24 August. On 20 October 2026 the Texas court denied her motion to dismiss xAI's suit, which is set for trial on 1 March 2027. No court has ruled on her allegations about the images.
