Indianapolis: court documents say a photographer used ArtSpace.ai to remove clothing from photos of children; FOX59 reports at least 47 children, 50 counts

According to court documents reported by FOX59, an Indianapolis photographer uploaded photos he had taken, and images found on social media, to the AI image platform ArtSpace.ai and typed prompts asking it to remove the clothing of the people shown while leaving the rest of each photo unchanged. Police traced a May cyber tip that flagged 1,631 suspected child sexual abuse files on the platform to his IP address. Investigators say the photos he uploaded showed at least 47 children, some as young as four or five, and that he told police he knew several of the victims. After a forensic review found more AI-generated files and further juvenile victims, he faces 48 counts of child exploitation and two of possession of child sex abuse material. The charges are untried; a jury trial is scheduled for November 2026.

AI system as recorded: ArtSpace.ai, an AI image platform that court documents say was given uploaded photos and prompts to remove the clothing of the people shown

What Happened

How the images were made. According to court documents reported by FOX59, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a cyber tip on 20 May that someone using the platform ArtSpace.ai had created 1,631 files of suspected child sexual abuse material, and the account's IP address was traced to the accused. Detectives noticed that many files came in pairs: an image of people wearing clothing and a second version showing the same people without clothing. The documents say he uploaded photos he took, or images found on social media, to the AI software with written prompts asking it to remove the clothing of the people in each photo without changing anything else. Many files appeared to depict people under 18, some as young as four or five.

The children. Investigators say he uploaded photos he took of at least 47 children. He told police he had photographed weddings and sporting events, which matched many of the files, and he acknowledged that several of the people were under 18. FOX59 reports that he initially denied using his own photographs, then said he knew several of the victims and described the activity as 'fun and exciting' before calling it 'stupidity'. A later forensic review of his seized computer found more AI-generated files, many depicting nude girls under 12, and further juvenile victims were identified.

Charges. Detectives searched his home on 24 August 2026 and he was first charged with 11 counts of child exploitation. FOX59 reported on 15 October 2026 that he faces 48 counts of child exploitation and two of possession of child sex abuse material, with a jury trial scheduled for 16 November 2026.

What is not established. The account comes from court documents relayed by one outlet; the charges are untried. The sources do not say whether any child or family learned of the images, whether the images were shared beyond the platform, or what ArtSpace.ai did in response.

Reported harm

According to court documents reported by FOX59, a photographer used ArtSpace.ai to turn photos of children into nude images, and FOX59 reports that photos of at least 47 children were uploaded; the charges are untried.

Outcome

Ongoing

Arrested after a search warrant executed on 24 August 2026 and first charged with 11 counts of child exploitation; by October 2026 he faced 48 felony counts of child exploitation and two counts of possession of child sex abuse material after further victims were identified. A jury trial in Marion Superior Court is scheduled to start on 16 November 2026. The charges are untried.

What remains unknown

  • When the images were created and whether they were shared beyond the platform
  • Whether the children or their families were told
  • What ArtSpace.ai did with the account or the generated images
  • The outcome of the criminal case

What the evidence supports

AI involvement: reported. Court documents reported by FOX59 say investigators traced a cyber tip about 1,631 suspected abuse files created on the AI platform ArtSpace.ai to the accused's IP address, that he uploaded photos he took or images found on social media and typed prompts asking the platform to remove the clothing of the people shown and change nothing else (FOX59 reports photos of at least 47 children), and that he acknowledged to police that several of the people were under 18. The platform's generated nude images of identifiable children are the sexual depictions (depicted_or_impersonated) and the basis of the charges. The attribution rests on the police investigation and the accused's statements as the court documents describe them; the charges are untried.

Henderson, Kentucky: police identified AI-generated nude images of two middle-school children on a device after a report that such images were being created and shown to other students at South Middle School; a juvenile was lodged at the juvenile detention centre on charges of distributing sexually explicit images without consent and possessing and distributing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor

Henderson Police said that on 'last Thursday' (17 September 2026) they received a report that AI-generated nude images of children were being created and shown to other students at South Middle School in Henderson, Kentucky. During the investigation officers found and identified AI-generated photographs of two minor victims on a digital device. A juvenile accused of sharing the images was lodged at the Juvenile Detention Center on three charge types: distribution of sexually explicit images without consent; two counts of possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor over 12 and under 18; and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor over 12 and under 18. The school said on Monday 21 September that it was aware of a situation involving a student allegedly misusing artificial intelligence and inappropriate images, that the police investigation was active and that it had remained in communication with the families involved. 14 News (WFIE) reported the case on 21 September; WKYT carried the same report. The tool is not named. The depicted children's exact ages are not reported, though the charge descriptors put them between 12 and 18. Cookeville, Tennessee: two high-school students were charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor after the sheriff's office said they used an AI program to turn photographs, including those of female classmates, into sexually explicit images and posted them; the mother of one depicted girl says her daughter shut herself in her room and stopped talking to friends

On 31 August 2026 the Putnam County Sheriff's Office was told of possible sharing of sexually explicit images at Cookeville High School. Detectives found that two male teenage students had used an artificial-intelligence program to turn photographs obtained online, in some cases photographs of fellow female students, into sexually explicit images, and had shared them; explicit images already stored on one phone were also shared. Both juveniles were taken to the Putnam County Juvenile Detention Center. One was charged with one count each of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, the other with two counts of each. The district attorney told NewsChannel 5 on 21 September that the two would be prosecuted in juvenile court. The mother of one of the depicted girls told the station the episode was very hard on her daughter, who had made no naked photographs herself, locked herself in her room and would not talk to her, to anybody or to her friends. The sheriff's-office account and the school system's statement were carried by WZTV, WSMV and 3B Media News on 1-2 September; NewsChannel 5 added its own interviews with the sheriff, the district attorney and the mother on 21 September. The tool is not named. The juveniles are not named in any report.
