Buenos Aires: AI-generated fake intimate images of 13- and 14-year-old girls at the Carlos Pellegrini school circulate in pupils' WhatsApp groups; families file a complaint and the national ministry demands answers from the UBA
Perfil reported on 1 October 2026 that fake intimate images of female pupils, created with artificial intelligence, had circulated in the WhatsApp groups of second-year students at the Escuela Superior de Comercio Carlos Pellegrini, a secondary school run by the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). The girls are 13 and 14 years old. The case came to light in late June 2026, and the school acknowledged the chats on 30 June. According to the report, the students involved manipulated, spread and sold the material, and a message on classroom desks told the victims the boys would keep undressing and selling them. Families filed a complaint with the Buenos Aires City cybercrime prosecution unit (UFEDICI) on 16 July and say the school has not concluded disciplinary action. By 1 October the national Ministry of Human Capital had asked the UBA rector for a detailed report on the protective measures and sanctions applied.

AI system as recorded: Artificial intelligence used to create fake intimate images of female pupils, as reported (tool not identified)
What Happened
The images. According to Perfil (1 October 2026), fake intimate images of female pupils created with artificial intelligence circulated in the WhatsApp groups of second-year students at the Escuela Superior de Comercio Carlos Pellegrini, a UBA secondary school in Buenos Aires. The girls are between 13 and 14. The report says the students involved manipulated, spread and sold the explicit material of their classmates, and that a message written on classroom desks told the victims: you can report us, but we will not stop undressing you and selling you.
Timeline. The case came to light at the end of June 2026. On 30 June the school's management acknowledged the chats and announced that its protocols would be applied. On 16 July the families filed a complaint with the UFEDICI, the City of Buenos Aires prosecution unit for computer crimes, and sent formal letters to the UBA rectorate and governing council asking for the gender-violence protocol to be applied. The families say the complaint is meant to trace whether the AI images are still circulating online so that their sale can be blocked. On 4 August the school reported that its digital-violence protocol had been activated and the city's children's rights council notified. More than two months later, the families said in the week of the report that no concrete resolution against the boys had been communicated.
Ministry intervention. Perfil reported on 1 October that the national Ministry of Human Capital had asked the UBA rector for a detailed report on the containment measures, disciplinary warnings and sanctions applied. Its statement said the repetition of such incidents, which it linked to recent episodes involving pupils of the Carlos Pellegrini and the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, was especially serious because it affected the girls' integrity, privacy and dignity.
Limits. Three outlets (Perfil, Infobae, La Nación) were read; they draw on the families and ministry, the victims' testimony and the prosecutor respectively. The number of girls, the tool used, how the sale took place and the status of the prosecution are not reported. No one is identified. Infobae reports that the group members were mostly Pellegrini pupils with some pupils of the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, and that the first alerts came on 27 June when second-year girls posted about a WhatsApp group sharing packs of AI-altered images. La Nación (10 July) relays the UFEDYCI prosecutor, Daniela Dupuy, saying about 50 minors emerge from the first steps of the investigation and that it is examining who produced, distributed and sold the material and whether those involved can be prosecuted; Infobae says the case is investigated as production and distribution of child sexual exploitation images. The number of girls depicted is still not given.
Reported harm
Female pupils aged 13 and 14 were depicted in AI-generated fake intimate images that circulated in pupils' WhatsApp groups and were reportedly sold, with a written threat to continue, according to Perfil's report of the families' and the ministry's statements.
Outcome
OngoingFamilies filed a complaint with the UFEDICI (Unidad Fiscal Especializada en Delitos y Contravenciones Informáticas) of the City of Buenos Aires on 16 July 2026, asking for a trace of whether the AI images still circulate, so that their sale can be blocked. The school acknowledged the chats on 30 June and reported on 4 August that its digital-violence protocol had been activated and the city's children's rights council notified; the families say no disciplinary resolution has been communicated. By 1 October 2026 the national Ministry of Human Capital, through its Undersecretariat for University Policy, had formally asked the UBA rector for a detailed report on measures and sanctions. Infobae reported on 8 August that the pupils identified had been suspended for a few days.
What remains unknown
- How many pupils were depicted.
- Which AI tool was used and who made the images.
- How and to whom the images were sold.
- The status of the UFEDICI complaint and of any disciplinary sanction beyond the few days' suspension Infobae reported in August.
- When the images were first made and shared.
What the evidence supports
AI involvement: reported. Perfil describes the images as fake intimate images created with artificial intelligence and reports the families' aim of tracing whether the images generated with AI still circulate. The images depicted the pupils (depicted_or_impersonated). The prosecutor told Radio Mitre (relayed by La Nación) that pupils used an AI app that undresses existing photos of classmates; Infobae reported on 8 August that judicial investigators were still working to establish whether the photos were made with AI. The tool used is not reported.

Henderson, Kentucky: police identified AI-generated nude images of two middle-school children on a device after a report that such images were being created and shown to other students at South Middle School; a juvenile was lodged at the juvenile detention centre on charges of distributing sexually explicit images without consent and possessing and distributing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor
Henderson Police said that on 'last Thursday' (17 September 2026) they received a report that AI-generated nude images of children were being created and shown to other students at South Middle School in Henderson, Kentucky. During the investigation officers found and identified AI-generated photographs of two minor victims on a digital device. A juvenile accused of sharing the images was lodged at the Juvenile Detention Center on three charge types: distribution of sexually explicit images without consent; two counts of possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor over 12 and under 18; and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor over 12 and under 18. The school said on Monday 21 September that it was aware of a situation involving a student allegedly misusing artificial intelligence and inappropriate images, that the police investigation was active and that it had remained in communication with the families involved. 14 News (WFIE) reported the case on 21 September; WKYT carried the same report. The tool is not named. The depicted children's exact ages are not reported, though the charge descriptors put them between 12 and 18. The accused is described as a South Middle School student; the accused's age and any relationship to the depicted children beyond attending the same school are not reported.
Jaú, São Paulo: eight 15-year-old ninth-grade boys at a private school are reported to have made fake nude images of a female classmate with artificial intelligence and shared them in a WhatsApp group; the school suspended them and the Civil Police are investigating a 15-year-old for dissemination of child pornography and defamation
In early September 2026 a private school in Jaú, in the interior of São Paulo state, identified the circulation of fake intimate images of a female classmate made with artificial intelligence and contacted the families. According to the police report described by the press, eight ninth-grade boys, all aged 15, kept a WhatsApp group in which they used digital programs to manipulate images of the student so that she appeared unclothed. The school suspended the eight and informed the girl's parents. The father of one of the boys checked his son's phone, found the files and took the boy and the phone to the police to register a report; the girl's parents also registered a police report. The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat said the Civil Police are investigating a 15-year-old for dissemination of child pornography and defamation that occurred on the morning of Thursday 3 September. The school said the content originated on a private platform outside the school environment and that it had adopted protective and welcoming measures for the student and opened an internal inquiry. The AI tool used is not named. The students are minors and are not named in any report.
Cookeville, Tennessee: two high-school students were charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor after the sheriff's office said they used an AI program to turn photographs, including those of female classmates, into sexually explicit images and posted them; the mother of one depicted girl says her daughter shut herself in her room and stopped talking to friends
On 31 August 2026 the Putnam County Sheriff's Office was told of possible sharing of sexually explicit images at Cookeville High School. Detectives found that two male teenage students had used an artificial-intelligence program to turn photographs obtained online, in some cases photographs of fellow female students, into sexually explicit images, and had shared them; explicit images already stored on one phone were also shared. Both juveniles were taken to the Putnam County Juvenile Detention Center. One was charged with one count each of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, the other with two counts of each. The district attorney told NewsChannel 5 on 21 September that the two would be prosecuted in juvenile court. The mother of one of the depicted girls told the station the episode was very hard on her daughter, who had made no naked photographs herself, locked herself in her room and would not talk to her, to anybody or to her friends. The sheriff's-office account and the school system's statement were carried by WZTV, WSMV and 3B Media News on 1-2 September; NewsChannel 5 added its own interviews with the sheriff, the district attorney and the mother on 21 September. The tool is not named. The juveniles are not named in any report.
Berlin-Weißensee: two pupils of the Heinz-Brandt-Schule are suspected of creating and distributing AI-generated sexualised nude images of female classmates in at least three cases; the school suspended them and sanctioned pupils who are said to have known and not reported, and the police's sexual-offences unit investigates with liability under section 184c StGB (youth pornography) under consideration
On 'the previous Friday' (19 June 2026, read relative to the 24 June 2026 report) the leadership of the Heinz-Brandt-Schule in Berlin-Weißensee (Pankow district) learned that two of its pupils were suspected of having created and distributed AI-generated sexualised nude images of female classmates; the school wrote to parents that it was 'shocked and appalled' that classmates' photographs had been abused in this way and described the alleged acts as a massive attack on the personality rights of the affected girls and a form of sexualised violence. The two pupils alleged to be mainly responsible were suspended from lessons with immediate effect, and the school imposed measures on pupils who are said to have known about the images without reporting them. The Senate Department for Education confirmed the incidents and the ongoing investigation in the Tagesspiegel's report of 24 June 2026. The school's letter says the investigation is conducted on behalf of the public prosecutor. A Berlin police spokesman said complaints had been filed over the creation of so-called deepfakes, that the investigation had been taken over by the State Criminal Police Office unit responsible for sexual offences against minors, and that criminal liability for possessing, obtaining, creating or distributing youth pornography under section 184c of the Criminal Code was under consideration; the police gave no further details, citing victim protection. At least three cases are alleged. The school said it would revise its prevention and sex-education concepts and asked parents to talk to their children about handling other people's photographs and AI applications. Nobody is named; the number of girls depicted is not reported.
